Heat from Waste Water Getting Hot Now
Activities of MCS in the Berlin test pilot of the REFLOW project soon enter a hot phase. The Berlin pilot aims at recovering heat from waste water at feasible cost. If successful other cities in Europe might benefit from the learnings in Berlin and adapt to their specific needs.
Much of the preparatory work has been performed by MCS and its Berlin partners until now. In the second half of the project until mid-2022, the Berlin team will focus on implementation and verification.
Within the Berlin pilot MCS is responsible for data collection. Once collected the data will show potential users where excess heat is available. Users can send requests to identify how to make use of the recovered heat.
REFLOW is part of the European Commission’s effort to move Europe to circular economies in which recycling, re-using and thorough use of raw materials become essential elements of sustainable business operation.
This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 820937.
